Image via WikipediaVideocopilot is a site full of after effects tutorials and many after effects products. It's a useful site for the beginners of After effects and also for professionals. The site is presented by Andrew Kramar. Andrew Kramer.
He has hosted more than 100 tutorials in this site. Andrew Kramer is the creator of some title sequences like Star Trek, Fringe, Super 8 etc. He got got skills and is helping people in learning about after effects via his site.
Videocopilot is the best tutorial site for after effects. Even a beginner with no prior experience in visual effects can learn after effects. Andrew got many products which can help you in creating big projects in After effects. They have a good team and everything from acting, videos to tutorials are done perfectly. Its a ad free site. I don't believe that they have ad free site. They can earn thousands of dollars per month via advertising.
Lets get to discuss pros and cons of the site.
Pros
Got a good way to show the preview. You just have to point the cursor about the image to display the video (or output preview). They have a perfect team. The actor Sam specially acts accordingly. The tutorial video is the best way to understand. Andrew explains everything perfectly and clears any doubts asked by the public.
The best thing is that they got the download option for all their tutorials. Its the best because people hate to learn in streaming videos. Once you downloaded the video, you can learn anytime you want. The tutorials are categorized and people can view them as per their wish like motion graphics, special effects etc.
The additional tools used are given for each tutorials. They also provide source files.
Its growing up. They got studio to shot and good crew.
Andrew Kramer is a good teacher. He know how to teach people in an interesting way.
Cons
Well the fact is, they don't have any cons.
But for reviewing purpose, I will add some.
They put the AE symbol near all the tutorials and the fact is that they have all the tutorials for After effects except a couple of tutorials for 3D max, one for cinema 3D, some using 3D Max and After effects and some using Photoshop and After effects.
The small popup window for preview is unable to detect. I was confused the first time I went to the site and was searching for preview option. (I had opened a lot of sites and downloading some software which slowed my internet). I got a blank screen and I had no idea that the blank screen is for preview. I never keep my cursor in a single place. You need to keep your cursor for a couple of seconds for the preview to load. They should have a text somewhere saying "Keep your cursor on the image to display the preview" or something like that which can aware the users.
It will be good if they provide some more categories. They just have five categories.
